Allow about five minutes to walk from Terrasse d’Azur to Menton station, depending on your pace and route. The return to the residence includes an uphill walk; allow extra time with luggage.
Start on the Rock
Explore Monaco-Ville around the Prince’s Palace and cathedral, then consider the Saint-Martin Gardens. The Oceanographic Museum, founded by Prince Albert I, makes a good main visit and introduces Monaco’s connection with marine science.
Choose any indoor visits in advance. Walking around the palace square and visiting the palace’s publicly accessible rooms are different experiences, with separate visiting arrangements.
Choose your afternoon
Continue to Monte Carlo and Casino Square, or head towards the Japanese Garden and Larvotto. Pick one area to enjoy properly rather than filling the day with several museums and every neighbourhood.
Monaco has considerable changes in elevation. Local transport can help connect districts, and a short distance on the map may involve a steep walk.
A suggested plan
Spend the morning on the Rock, pause for lunch, then choose Monte Carlo for architecture and city life or Larvotto for time by the sea. Check your return train before settling down for dinner. Back at Terrasse d’Azur, enjoy a quieter evening on the terrace.
